About Us

Thomas Robinson Consulting Ltd. was formed in 1994. The main office is located in Smithers, B.C. We offer a variety of support programs for 150+ children, youth and adults who require extra supports, as well as families and community agencies working with people who have developmental disabilities, across Northwest BC. We are primarily funded by the Ministry of Children and Family Development and Community Living BC, and private fees.

TRCL usually employs over 32 casual Support Workers, 10 permanent Consultants, an Office Administrator, a Program Director, and Director. The company has 6 office/program sites: Hazelton, Smithers, Houston, Burns Lake, Fort St James and Vanderhoof. We provide outreach services to communities along the Highway 16 corridor from Prince George to Prince Rupert.

We use a case management/service coordination model which includes support plans/individual planning, assessment, community and person specific training, transition planning and access to resources.

We use a blended outreach/satellite model that is a community based resource. Whenever possible we hire staff that live in  community. Consultants travel to the smaller connecting communities (usually no more than 75 km), and the Program Director/Director travel across the area to provide mentorship, training and clinical support to the Consultants. We have small satellite offices for employees to work from, but services are outreach and staff go where the Individual is, and meet with parents/families in a place of their choice. Team meetings are always held in a location convenient for the Individual/family. Programs follow an outreach model so actual hours vary and may include evenings/weekends.

We operate on an open door principle and always welcome suggestions and feedback. Individual, family, and community input enable us to provide a high quality of service.
